Story
An Inspirational Life
Alan Donelly was a board member and long time supporter of Cancer Support WA. He peacefully passed away on the 2nd August 2013 after 24 years of living with cancer. Alan was an exceptional example of how the right positive attitude and implementation of changes in lifestyle make it possible to change the path of illness and live a long and happy life. Alan was an advocate of a healthy diet, regular exercise and Master in Qi Gong and taught for many years at Cancer Support WA. Alan will be remembered for his genersosity, kindness and incredible vitality, and will remain an inspiration to all who know him.

Below is Alan's Story, he authored before his passing. RIP Alan, you will forever be in our hearts and thoughts and will remain an inspiration to us all.
Alan's Story:
I have been a member of Cancer Support WA since 1987 when I was first diagnosed with cancer. Statistics indicate that one of two Australians will be diagnosed with cancer, and like many Cancer Support WA members, I was one of those so diagnosed.
As part of my healing process, I started attending meditation and ‘Laughing Classes’ at Cancer Support WA, and most recently I was introduced to Qi Gong, an ancient Chinese art of self-healing. I found this so beneficial that after countless hours, I became a teacher of Qi Gong myself and now conduct 2-hour classes with fellow cancer patients.
Now, after over twenty years, I understand that through perseverance, determination and the invaluable support of Cancer Support WA, I’m still here living my life.
To all West Australians who rely on the organisation for support, your support of this event means the world to me and helps ensure the continuation of the essential services that benefit all of us.

For over 30 years, Cancer Support WA has helped and supported many thousands of Western Australians affected by cancer to achieve wellness, healing and improve their outcomes from cancer.
The money Cancer Support WA raises through fundraising enables us to provide vital free services and programs including:
24 hour cancer support phone line
Counselling for individuals and families
Information packs for people newly diagnosed with cancer
Mentoring and grief groups
Cancer care packs
Home and hospital visits from counselling staff
Cancer wellness courses and seminars
Research, library and wellness magazine
Through your generous donation, Cancer Support WA is able to offer these services at no cost to West Australian families experiencing financial hardship due to cancer.
