A beautiful and amazing lady, Jackie Goodley passed away on the 18^th August 2014.

Jackie will be remembered for her humour, strength, courage and generosity and will remain an inspiration to all who knew her. Our deepest sympathy to David, Jackie and the family.

My Story

So here I am, this is me
In my family, I'm one of three
Since 2006 we have battled together
Our lives changed forever
From breast to bone to liver
It's enough to make anyone shiver

With pills, radiation, and chemo
We  ‘will’ this disease to go
My journey has been long and sometimes hard
Feeling sick, bald and looking scarred
Weekly trips to nurses and doctors
My diary is always chockers

With mind management awareness
Creating positive solutions to wellness
Believing in my body’s ability to mend
My journey is far from the end
Keeping busy and feeling alive
Is all part of my will to survive

My garden, my writing, my friends and my art
These things keep me from falling apart
So onwards and upwards we climb
Because we know that all will be fine!
Has it changed my family and me?
Of course! But still we are three!

The cancer journey is different for everyone and for me it has given me the opportunity to look inside and discover what it is that I love and how I want to spend my time.  It has made me face things that are frightening, challenging, to see what is important and it has made me stronger and more determined.  I have discovered that I see beauty in simple things, I have created art from my scans (the flowers and butterflies on my picture are pieces I have been playing with, made from my CT and bone scans) and now I can see them as lovely pieces instead of the sadness that they once were.   I believe that with all the support of those on my ‘team’ I can live a long and joyful life!  Cancer Support WA provides support and information to those living with Cancer and I have chosen to write my story to show my support to this organization, I hope you can help me in my fundraising venture and thank you for your support.
